New Trio in Paris, on my trusty Dupont Vieille Reserve

in Europe Posts: 239

Hey guys, some of you follow a bit my stuff, i was lately only playing the manouche guitar for the Romain Vuillemin Quartet s gig and for the project Generation Django, but i now started a new band singing hispanic songs and Boleros with Piano and Bass AND my good old Dupont. Hope you'll like it

Romain - Very powerful rendition at that tempo!

Looking forward to hearing your further exploration into the catalog of Hispanic music!

I hear a nice bolero coming.

    Good work man!

Hey thanks for the kind words. I have also this take from my latest album about the great amercian songbook, but doing 2 exceptions, one for Historia de un amor and one for Tennessee Waltz

This is great, Romain. One of the area bands I sit in with, plays a lot of stuff with a similar flavor, including both of these. Are you doing anything Cuban? Some of those would be perfect, I'd think. Chan Chan, Dos Gardenias, beautiful stuff. Lately I've been kinda obsessed with Sabor a Mi, we play that one.

Oh, then everything from the Lagrimas Negras album, Bebo y Cigala. Any of it would fit you well.

Another great Cuban pianist composer with an extensive history is Ernesto Luqueno. Check him out! Paul Mehling/Hot Club of San Francisco recorded one of his charts to great effect "The Breeze and I" 1997. Luqueno wrote about 600 compositions. All great explorable study material.

Romain - I just listened to your "Historia de Un Amor" version and it's very good also. Thank you for exploring other music genres to continue your musical vision and advancing quality music!

These are fantastic, Romain! Will you record them? Because I would love them for my "Big Smoldering Bolero" playlist — mostly Spanish save for "Ces P'tits Je T'Aime" par Daniel Forestal...which I bet would sound amazing in your trio. Thanks for sharing on the forum.

Tennessee Waltz was written and made famous by Pee Wee King from the tiny town of Abrams, WI, where my grandparents used to live on the old family farm. Classic song!

Hey thanks Ethan, i may possibly record that next year, it will depend on how the sales go on my other albums as i still have copies of Three Sides of a Coin (django tribute) and Sings the Great American Songbook. They can be found also numerically on https://romainvuilleminquartet.bandcamp.com/

    cheers
