Howdy folks,
I have a Gibson L4 archtop that is not getting played much. These are basically the acoustic version of the L5, solid top, cozy 16" lower bout, adjustable truss rod and bridge.
Acoustic tone is crisp and dry.
Im not 100% about the year.
This one has been played hard and shows it! no pickguard and somewhere along the line I lost one of the fretboard markers.
Action is great, truss rod works, guitar is ready to play! Tuners and tailpiece are not original.
I figure it would sell for around $2000 on reverb pretty easily, Id love to find someone that would swap me with a similar value European-made D hole. Heavy wear is cool, clean guitars make me nervous and depressed.

The year would be ~1950, there's a little inconsistency with how Gibson numbered guitars during that time so you could be right about 1949 but definitely in that ballpark.

I think this chart puts it at 1949, with 4183 (my serial #) being less than 4413 (supposed last serial # for 1949) ?
