It seems to be a big production. Hank Garland was one of the greatest jazz guitarists on the planet and he influenced George Benson and many others who came after him.

In 1959, he did a test pressing on the Sesac label sent out only to radio stations. The title was "Subtle Swing". I was lucky enough to find it a few years back in a Record/Vinyl shop. It has since been re-released on a small label as "Unforgettable Guitar"

But - most recently, there was a release called "Move" (not the Bireli album) which is a 2CD set compilation of all three of Hank's Jazz albums
1.) "Jazz Winds"
2.) "Subtle Swing" ("Unforgettable Guitar")
3.) "Velvet Guitar"

So... if you've only heard "Jazz Winds" and "Velvet Guitar" there is a whole other album of Hank's jazz work out there waiting for you to discover it.

OK... I can hear you GJ'ers... How about "Genius Guitar?"

... Well... OK - It's great too - and probably his closest work to the GJ genre... but a lot of it is very "Nashville" which is why I'm not calling it a "Jazz" album... but it's a semantic difference really... the bottom line is that Hank was awesome... tasty tasty tasty playing. If you don't have any of his stuff... get some. You won't be sorry.
