I have to agree with this. It appears to me that a number of people that post here and on the UK forum don't think any opinion that differs from theirs or the 'GJ standard' has any place or any merit. It can be quite discouraging.
I have been playing guitar for many years and have gone through many phases. I started getting into playing this style of music a couple of years ago because Django seemed to be a sponge and take in everything he listened to and it truly showed in his own playing and compositions. And, as far as equipment is concerned, it didn't matter what guitar Django was playing or what bridge and strings it had, it was Django and it was superb!
My point is that Django was not stagnant, his music evolved (as it should for all of us). We should be influenced by what we like, but music, like any art, should be individual and it is pointless for everyone to play and sound the same.
