Hey, currently playing this with a vocalist and looking to do the spoken verse as in the original by Charles Trenet. Just wondering if any one has worked out chords that work here. Not entirely obvious to me from listening how it translates to guitar. Thanks

We just do a bunch of minor 251 in rubato for that part, it works
Jimmy Grant and Eva Slongo play this live a bunch. I found this video that shows the second half (with Sam Farthing and Jimmy both playing). You could cop their chords from this part and try to figure out the first part? Or you might hear what Jimmy plays on their recorded version and split the difference?
Bamboula Ferret sings a great version that includes the verse you are talking about, but it is on the Oe Djouvia album (I couldn't find it streaming anywhere). Fapy plays guitar on it. It is a bit more uptempo and starts with an Andalusian cadence.
Trenet's 1943 recording is something like this:
A simpler (and more "ballad-y") approach by Walter Hyatt (1990) is something like this (different key, obvs.)
I've used this below although I've done what Wim mentioned when I forgot these changes
