Can the Schertler Basik-Set Electrostatic Pickup be used with any amp?
Say, like a fender twin.
Yes...but it needs phantom power. If the amp doesn't have phantom power then you can use a battery pack which comes with the pickup.
What exactly is the difference between the basik set and basik pro?
Most people use the Basik set...the Basik Pro comes with an XLR adapter. It's not really useful unless you're recording or using into a PA that only has XLR inputs.
What are the advantages of using the pickup with the stat pre amp?
The Basik doesn't have a lot of gain. So if you want to get really loud you'll need the Stat-Pre pre amp. No other premap (except the PRe AII) will work because it has to be electrostatic. The Stat Pre also mellows the tone somewhat. If you want even a better tone and more control you can use the Pre AII. The Pre AII also has a Reson control which greatly reduces feedback...very handy.
