the changes are on gadjodrom.com under the title "fantasie". as far as the head , no music or tab on hand , but its a pretty slow one so if you go for it by ear it shouldnt be too hard. good luck!
I wonder if it would be too much to ask if anyone has any solos... I really like the way Serge Krief plays it on the Django Legacy video, while the camera is panning around Samois scenes.
Also, I have been reading that this was inspired by a Grieg composition. I wonder which one, and exactly how derivative it is.
I love this song, it is great to solo over it. I did some homerecordings last week, soloing over this song, I can send you an mp3 if you like? Maybe it gives some idea's?

It IS a Grieg composition
Its a testament to Django's genius that he was able to stamp his own personality on to it so it sounds like one of his own tunes
He did the same with Debussys' 'Reverie'(recently covered absolutely beautifully by the UK's Tim Robinson(Thrip) on his Vipers Dream CD of the same name.
I believe that Grieg's publishers 'Peters edition' objected to a mere jazz artist covering the 'Danse Norvege' and objected!
Hopefully we're all a bit more enlightened now.
The influence of classical music on Django is underestimated imho and shows his European roots i think.

Ravel's publishers put the kibosh on the 1939 Benny Goodman recording of Bolero. I guess they wanted it to be in pristine condition in case an opportunity like background music for a Bo Derek movie ever arrived for 'Bolero.'

If you want to send me your email address I can send off a scan I've got for the head.
Best,

Agreed. I think Django was more influenced by European classical music than he was by "gypsy" music and that influence increased as he developed.

Nice choice of pianist Maslan!!--Gilels was fantastic!

Yes, it is an easy tune to play, which does not detract at all from the beauty of the melody.
As for its origin, interesting.....given that that there were classical composers inspired by gypsy music. Full circle.
