I play an Hodson guitar, model 503SR. It's a copy of the original Selmer 503 owned by Django and it's great, the sound is loud and deep and I really love it. Here the David's website, take a look: http://www.hodsonjazzguitars.com/
You can also speak with Gerrit, a friend of mine and a great luthier:

Another way is to take a trip in Paris and look around, try some instruments and find your favourite.
Anyway, if you take a look at Michael site or around the web, you'll find a lot of good luthiers.
Cheers.
Look on Djangobooks.com
I like the DG-320.
John David Hodson passed away on 14 february 2007, following a very short illness. R.I.P.

he builds the best guitars at the moment in my opinion.

I really wanna give it a shot, and see if its worth buying, but I won't be able to go to bolognia until after june 6th... a long way away, and I fear it might be taken by then. Wish I could get it, but I thought, seeing as you are around there, you might wanna try and grab it.
Price isn't fantastic, though the pickup makes it slightly better. But I guess this is as good as it gets in Italy.
Boonstra guitars sound great, but I really can't force myself to like their shape... same thing with the Marin.
I admit, I have never played one, but every time I hear one I am amazed. They have a certain edge over most other guitars I've heard... a little less bright and a little more punchy. Could be completly wrong... I am gonna wait until I play one.
How I hope it doesn't get sold in the upcoming month and a half.
Unfortunately no way to hear the plain acoustic sound here... as for the piezo ... well, it is really piezo!

You can hear a plain record of a Boonstra here:

But my all time favourite rendition of "Exactly like you" remains this:

No kidding!
Is this not a boonstra?
