Nylon-string Manouche?

for those who have played one, how do they compare to other nylon string guitars? I would love to get a nylon string jazz guitar for fingerstyle with a cutaway and archtop-sized neck. Unfortunately most guitars like this are custom made and cost upwards of $5000. Would a nylon string maccaferri style fit the bill?

Hi,
I've never played one of them, but Alves de puga makes some of them.
And the price is correct (1500euros).
I've never played an "alves" myself (so even less a nylon one) but this guy has a great reputation in France.
The transportation might add a lot to the price though.
