Bireli`s rhythmic pattern in Viper`s Dream?

Hi, Can someone tell me exactly what`s the picking pattern for the little rhythmic flourish Bireli plays at the start of his third chorus in Viper`s Dream (0:56-1:00) from the first Gypsy Project album?
I`ve heard a lot of players do it but I don`t know the proper way to pick it.

I think it starts with an slow upstroke, after maybe DUDDUD, but I`m not sure Can someone confirm or deny this?

the basics of it is that you accent the offbeats ... bireli does it with a downstroke, but some people do it with upstrokes (i've seen adrien moignard do it that way)

it's very very hard to describe in words

but the important thing is the "ghost" strokes, you pretend to attack on hte bass strings on the beats with downstrokes and alternate with real strokes on offbeats...

i think the clearest example of bireli doing it is on the live a vienne DVD on donna lee, he does it for a long time... (not the exact pattern but the same concept), you can ssee it very clearly

I`ll work hard on this and watch the videos more carefully, hope I nail it soon.
It sounds like he first drags the pick with an upstroke, right?
I`m not sure if the rest is DUD or alternate.

P.S. I can`t wait to for your DVD to be released looks very cool (Campion`s Favino on the cover?) and I really need to work on my rhythm skills, this stuff is hard! BTW Is it gonna be available at Djangobooks?
