From what I've read, the picture that is on the cover of Michael Dregni's
great book on the life of Django, was originally a large poster , put out by Deca, and "plastered all over Paris" in the 40's

I would very much like to find and buy one of these original old posters. does anyone have any idea where one could be found? There must be some old vintage poster stores in Paris. Maybe one of our French board members has an idea.

Years ago there was a shop in San Francisco that specialized in vintage French posters. I wish I could remember more. I want to say it was in Pacific Heights or the Marina -- somewhere around there. May be long gone.
You might try these places:

I'll warn you though, vintage well-designed French affiches are very collectible and fetch top dollar, even when they don't feature Django!
Good luck!

it's a great piece of artwork featuring a great artist.
I have one in my studio hangin on the wall, about 50 centimeters high, framed and glassed.
my friend who did the print did a bigger one for his workshop about two meters high, it´s beautiful! I reckon he could sell one in any size one needs
if its not against any law? Still for those of you living in USA, you would be better of just going to a good "printshop" and have it done, as we live in sweden, and the dollar to krona exchange rate is not in your favor.
I also got one of Carolyn Ridsdales "collagepieces" as used on cover for the robin nolan book series, the red one, in a big print, a gift from Paul Meader
a few years ago, looks stunnning!
And speaking of it, i had a local artist to paint two canvases to me,
one Django and one Frank Zappa, also beautiful and a pretty cheap way
of getting a personal painting that really means something to me.
Could be seen in this link - http://www.swingclub.nu/gitane.html picture on the bottom of the page. I´ve just asked her to do one of Nina Hagen as well!
