beginner guitar?

I'm new to the gypsy jazz thing and I want to buy a student-level guitar. I don't have a lot of money to spend and so far I've come across two affordable brands-- Aria and Cordoba. I read some of what was said about the Aria on other posts (basically you get what you pay for), has anyone played a Cordoba? Can anyone recommend any other affordable (under $500) gypsy-style guitars?

Grease, you might want to consider buying a used Saga Gitane like a DG-255, 250, 250M (all small soundhole models), or a D-500 (Macaferri style). They can usually be had used for $450-500, and many haven't been played that much. They are much better instruments than the Arias, which I've played (and are pretty lame), and I'm guessing are way better than the Codobas as well. That would be my advice. You can upgrade the bridge and even the tuning keys later and have a pretty fair instrument for not much money.

There always seem to be a few for sale, because some guys give up on the music, and others upgrade to a better guitar.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.

    Grease,

My PM thingy isn't working for some reason. If you want to send me an email I can contact you that way. I just know of a guitar you may be interested in.
