I built a longscale maccaferri with resonator( i definately wanted it to have one)
and i can say it is very loud, and has a great balance and tone.
The resonator compensates for the too big soundhole and gives the guitar that old singing sound.I had several d-holes without resonator (Ibanez, moustache) and thay where only loud till a few feat away, then the sound was gone, also very uneven especailly the low B note.
With the resonator the sound projects really far.
I love that sound.making a second one now.
Once it is ready i will post it on facebook.
I think Django picked the ovalhole for the longer scale and 14 frets and he could pick any guitar he wanted.

"That old singing sound"... what a wonderful way to describe it!

I'd love to hear that guitar, Rino.
Paul Cezanne: "I could paint for a thousand years without stopping and I would still feel as though I knew nothing."

Edgar Degas: "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.... To draw, you must close your eyes and sing."

Georges Braque: "In art there is only one thing that counts: the bit that can’t be explained."
