Never see his name mentioned in these parts. I haven't heard much, but what I have heard I really liked. Anyone know if there is a US source for his CDs? Hot Club Records issued 5 CDs of his playing but they seem to be out of print.
thanks in advance,
John

There you'll find the CDs (now on Normann Records), a DVD, Note Book, interesting bio written by Jon Larsen (Hot Club de Norvege/Hot Club Records), sound clips, video and audio samples, etc.

I would like to find a nice sampler before I take a deeper financial plunge.
Any strong recommendations for Normann, or particular recordings/eras/tracks to look for?
thanks!
John
the Definitive collection vol. 1-5 are available on iTunes, here in Norway anyway.

A great musician, and a very interesting right hand technique. It looks like he's using a plectrum when soloing, but he's just using his fingers. I don't know how he's doing it, but it gives him great flexibility in his playing
What kind of guitar is that?
Also ... at around 1:40 in the youtube vid ... it looks like a mic has been attached to the neck at around the 12th fret?!?!?! :?:

The pickup you see was installed by robert to give extra amplification to the bass-strings. He was quite an inventor, he even constructed and made his own amplifier by the same time Charlie Christian with the electric guitar did his first recordings with the Benny Goodman Sextet (October 1939)
