I've been listening to this CD non-stop for a couple of weeks...as you would expect from the Rosenbergs, it's top notch.
One thing I noticed is that Nous'che is playing rhythm without an upstroke on some songs. Not all of them....only a few. Interesting, I've never heard him pay that way before. Just about every performance and recording I've heard, he's clearly using the classic upstroke style la pompe.
I think it's cool to mix up the various styles and use them for artistic means. He probably wanted a cleaner, more spacious sound on some songs, hence the omission of the upstroke.
