Is there any reason why one of these would have any problems on an archtop guitar? I am considering buying one, but I haven't seen any other archtop guitar players use one. Any input would be appreciated.

Ok, I ordered one. Where did you find was the best place to put it? Just behind the bridge like I've seen people do on gypsy guitars?

Yes..usually the closer to the bridge the better. But it's fun to experiment. Try putting it on the bass side of the bridge for more low end.
