It just occurred to me that the title of this thread may be based on the assumption that Lagrene is pronounced La-grain. So I thought I would point out that it is pronounced much closer to La-gren.
But here's another - this one is wonderful - among my favorite Bireli YouTube shorts: a 6 minute Jam from March of this year where Hono lays down a funk beat (yes, seriously) and Bireli & Franck get to stretch out and run a bit - its a very rewarding listen.

You're right! Holy cow - thanks for connecting the dots - I didn' t recognize it though it sounded familiar. Brian Bromberg did a solo version of it on the 300 year old Italian upright bass his father gave him on his album "Wood". When I was in the audio industry we used that track at tradeshows. Those were fun times - most companies were thundering pop music at people and we were turning people on to jazz because a lot of the folks at that little company were gigging jazz musicians. Best part was that we actually got the biggest crowds because the stuff we were playing was such a respite from the Pop/HipHop/BoyBand crap pulsing nearly everywhere else. Lots of the "Friends of Marsalis" recordings too - they were also very well recorded - LCJA, Tain Watts etc. A handful of people would come up after every presentation to talk with our guys and walk away with a list of: "If ya like that, ya gotta go get this" albums. Good Karma in that I suppose - fighting the good fight for jazz' sake.
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.
