Django's Selmer 503

I found this pictures at the Cite de la musique website, I hope it's OK to post them here.
Note the purple (or blue?) string ends at the tailpiece and of course the large patch of pick scratched finish under the high E string...Was Django a hard picker or what?

is that shim under EBG section of the bridge, or did someone put the bridge on upside down?

I wouldn't be surprised if those strings are just a modern replacement for display purposes...

That's what I thought too, i think it is upside down.

Wouldn't surprise me either but they look somewhat different to the modern Argentines, don't they? Maybe it's just an the pic
