La folle with Matelot and mystery tune

I have an anon recording of this tune(La Folle)--it sounds like a 40's or 50's recording-- Its definitely(almost) Jo Privat--i'm pretty sure the guitarist though is not Baro but Matelot--its followed by another beautiful minor key waltz which again has a short solo which has to be Matelot--he uses those familar minor sixth licks(as in Manouche Partie)
Anyone recognise the recording?-i need to know the title of the 2nd waltz as well.

Its definitely not from the 1949 period Baro/Privat sessions
Actually i spoke to the 'great Scot' this afternoon--he reckons its Sarane on gtr and possibly Murena on accordion--hes helping me out--its really the 2nd waltz i'm interested in. Hes going to check his collection(which i'd KILL for!)
Interesting about "La Folie"!---makes more sense doesn't it!?
BUT...the original sheet music(Leon Agel 1951) is titled "La FolLe-Valse swing improvisation"-
the "Swing Valses...hier..aujourd'hui" is the 2nd Baro recording after all.
Whatever the spelling,all those waltzes of Baro are inspired and,even to this day, unique masterpieces!
I'm not lucky enough to have the original 78rpm records of Privat and Baro sadly!

All the old sheet music calls it "La Folle". And I am fairly sure that the 2nd version (the flip side of Ballad Nocturne) by "Jo Privat et l'Ensemble Balajo" has Didi Duprat on guitar, not Baro. The first version is certainly Baro, but if you listen to the 2nd version the guitarist is not Baro - he plays with skill but not with Baro's elan. It isn't the RH of any Ferret, it's not Django or Joseph - but it does sound like Didi Duprat in those days.

The recordings of Baro in question here are by Baro Ferret et son Ensemble - the tunes were La Folle, Panique, Dinalie Mineur and Turbulent Zoe. The musicians were Baro, Sarrane, Montagne, Privat and Jeremy Graind'son on bass. The date is usually given as 1949 but I think it was more like 1946. These are astounding recordings of wonderful compositions from King Baro played to the nth degree. Really there is nothing else quite like them, except of course Baro's recordings from the 60s.

I recently uncovered two more unknown sides by Baro with Jo Privat, a 2nd version of Dinalie Mineur, and L'as des As (The Ace of Aces). I think it's Baro here too, but I don't have solid information yet. Credit for the writing is to Baro. But here it might be Duprat, too.

Scot or Ted could tell you alot more but......
They are 78 rpm recordings done around 1949 and represent Baro Ferret at the peak of his powers-Jo Privats playing is also amazing--
La Folle
Dinalie mineur
Turbalent Zoe(incredible!)
Panique(this one is of course is on the 'Gypsy Jazz School' cds)

These waltzes point to a new direction for Musette that even now i don't think has been realised.They really show that Baro was,at his best, second only to Django imo.

I intend to record these waltzes,particularly"Panique" "Dinalie mineur" and "Turbalent Zoe" on my cd--i had a go at "Panique" 3 years ago but wasn't really ready :-(
The most remarkable waltz is "Turbalent Zoe"--which sounds like Prokofiev jamming on the 'left bank' with Privat,Monk,Django and Baro...you gotta hear it!!

I'll never match the originals(how could you?) but those compositions deserve a new interpretation.And i'm up for it now!!!!!

Does this really mean Baro Ferret played the music of Burt Bacharach ("This Girl's in Love with You")? I love Baro, I love Burt (yes, I admit it), but I can't quite image the synthesis.

I didn't realize Baro kept recording after his 1966 Lp. Hope all this Baro stuff gets reissued sometime.
