OK OK, I know this is not proper "Gypsy" technique
But I can't remember whether we've celebrated this brilliant bit of rhythm guitar which surfaced on YouTube here a while back. I've never seen 'the great one' without an orchestra behind him. What he does is so simple, but he lays down such a rock solid beat - what a pleasure to hear. There isn't a lead guitar player out there in the Jazz idiom - Gypsy or otherwise - who wouldn't give his eye-teeth for a rhythm player able to lay down such a solid beat. Wow. He isn't playing the rhythm - he is the rhythm.
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

Have you heard about the idea that he used one-note chords? http://www.freddiegreen.org/technique.html
Seeing the way Green holds his guitar made me think of the way T-Bone Walker held his!
