Was speaking to Andreas at this years Gossington fest and he was telling me that gaiti Lagrene was not,as i thought killed in a car accident but is actually alive and well!
Can someone confim this?....he is(was?) my fave rhythm gtr player.

No, it was the other rhythm guitar player of Bireli Lagrenes first band, who was killed in a car accident some years ago: René "Tschirglo" Löffler. Some people mixed up Birelis two rhythm players and so the rumours about Gaiti´s´death came up.

If I remember right (I'm at work and can't check) Cruikshank's Django's Gypsies book also said Gaiti had died in a crash...that could have led to a mixup/rumor.

    best,
    Jack.
