hello, could someone please post the chord shapes used for the Em EmM7
Em6 Em passage, i've figured out some shapes, they dont sound quite right. thanks

    Just take an Em chord and move the root (preferably not the one voiced in the bottom of the chord) down a half step each time. This will work with any Em chord shape that has the root voiced somewhere other than the bass.

    I guess I should clarify: move the root down a half step to Maj7th, then a half step to min7th, then a half step to 6th.

    I am curios as to why you wouldn't use the voicing with the root in the bass.
    The only problem I see is that you loose the root. The sound and movement
    is still good.

    Do most of you keep the root all the time?

    With traditional barre chord shapes is gets a little clashy, and eventually you'll have to move the other voices in the chord as well, so it tends to sound better in one of the higher voices. I do sometimes use this voicing that works well with the descending line in the bass (not on Dinah but on other tunes)

    For Em
    ---------------------------------
    -----12--12--12--8---------------------
    -----12--12--12--9---------------------
    ------9---9---9---9------------------
    ---------------------------------
    -----12--11--10--9---------------------


    more rarely, you can try it like this:
    ---------------------------------
    --8--8--5--5-------------------------

    --9--9--5--5-------------------------
    --7--6--5--4-------------------------

    not too complicated

    When I have a little more time to find my chords I play:

    this one fits as intro of "Nature Boy" as well.

    barengo, i think I use that one in Montagne St. Genevieve sometimes (or something very similar).

    That's right it's exactly the same in Montagne Ste genevieve.
    btw, for Montagne the Cosimini suggests :

    --2---2--2--4----------------
    --0---0--0--0--------------

    It sounds good too, but I guess it doesn't provide the same punch since there are so many open strings
