Hey would anyone like to join me in putting together a little Djangofest in San Felipe, Baja Califonia Norte???? I'm thinking about tryin to organize something for the depth of winter where we can still carry our guitars without worrying about the freezing air cracking the finish! Hey we could sit under palm trees with a Corona on the beach banging out tunes on our SelMacs. Can anyone say Jimmy Buffet does Django? I may have a couple of Archtop Eddy's Surfin Djangos tunes worked out by then!

I don't know if can make it but sure would be sweet...
Why Sn. Felipe?
That sounds fantastic! I know we'd love to come if an opportunity arose, thats practically southwest Phoenix the way things are expanding out here.
First thing that comes to mind is promotion, promotion, promotion, as I can only assume there would be no built in local audience, and without a list of A-team groups/players, few if any, would travel there. So the question is, how do you snag a tourist crowd??
Unless of course The Schmitts might be persuaded? ;-)

Keep me posted on your trip to Phoenix. Do you have Tucson on your itinerary? If not, I am in Phoenix quite often for gigs and Djams...
I trust you'll bring a Modele Jazz for me to try out.
Sorry HCoT couldn't make it to Albuquerque...
If Mexico doesn't pan out we could also have a mini Fest / Djam here in the desert southwest... I think more players would be available as many do not travel without compensation. Just a thought.
Have a great club here in Tucson that would host an evening of Gypsy Jazz...
Chuck!
Chris Strone did sub on bass at the last minute with Daniele and I...
He's a great bass player... Even brought his cello!
El Charro ring a bell?
Later,
