Where is the famous guitar district in NYC?

Hi,
I am about to leave for NYC for a few days and remember going, a while ago, in a street full of super famous guitar stores where everybody goes, from Keith Richards to Eric Clapton (at least at one point in time). I specifically huge inventories of incredible vintage guitars.
But I cannot remember where it is. Could you please help me... I would hate to miss spending a couple of hours in this place and I cannot remember the address...

Also does anybody know if a good guitar store specializing in good gypsy guitars in NYC with Dupont, ...

For vintage stuff you'll usually find way more at Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island.

There's a number of stores on 48th Street (including Manny's). If you can get to Staten Island, Mandolin Brothers is well worth the trip. Stan Jay and crew are great and their selection (especially acoustic and Jazz instruments) is vast to say the least. The Selmer style instruments are listed under the Flat Top section.

i've tried it , great guitar, very even tone plus rodrigo's also a stand-up comic

you can dig into the lower strings really well. it's warm, kind of like plugging into an amp.

Great guitar... I am waiting for my own version of the D'Artagnan which will be ready in the new year. Same guitar but without the detailing on the fretboard. I can hardly wait. Rodrigo is indeed a funny guy if you get a drink or two in him.

PS... stay away from 48th st. and Matt Umanov guitars on Bleeker. Big ripoff artists and plenty of BS...in my opinion. Mandolin Bros is really nice and has a lot of great Jazz guitars.

I forgot to mention my good friend Steve Uhrik at New York String Service in Brooklyn. He has an amazing collection of antique instruments, photos, books, electronics and parts of every kind. This is the best of the best. Unfortunately, he doesn't sell gypsy guitars. But he has fabulous Flamenco and Jazz guitars. It is definitely worth visiting.
