I'm relatively new to the world of GJ coming from a traditional jazz guitar background. I'm wondering if you all would make some recommendations
of post-Django GJ guitarist CDs that you would consider 'essential'. I'm unsure where to start and would appreciate your help.

I've been listen to his new album which is great. A bit different, but really nice he even sings on this one and the solos are incredible as usual.

The site is in French but that CD list is a good place to start IMHO. Some of those albums can be hard to find but most of them can be found right here on Djangobooks.
I think the latest Rosenberg Trio is one of the best modern gypsy jazz CDs ever. I've been listening to it a lot lately!

Fapy Lafertin's Hungaria is still one I listen to all the time, it literally sounds like it's from the 40s:

Manouche Partie with Matelot and Jo Privat is another one I keep coming back to. The arrangements are brilliant and I think they sound a lot more modern than stuff today, despite being recorded in the 60s:
