    When pickups like Stimer were developed - wide-bobbin single-coil pickups like De Armond or Gibson's P-90 - class AB vacuum-tube amps like early Fenders were the rule. The Stimer was designed to work with this type of amp. I use a late 60s Princeton Reverb and the sound is superb - if you want that fat and glossy Maurice Ferre sound, which you can't get except with a Fender. I've also found that Stimers sound fine through some solid state amps like Polytone and Evans - jazz amps. But piezos always sound awful through tube amps. I'm sure that any good jazz amp would work fine with a Stimer.

    Just wanted to thank everybody for their input... this thread is a great read and I learned much from it.

    Bob, unfortunately I wasn't able to get your MP3 to play. Is the file gone or does it still work for other people?
