...it does lack the pure "in your face" cutting power of the Busato. You can get a fair amount of "attitude" from the VR, but the Busato is the king of that. It really likes to "yell" the notes out. Excuse my French, but everything I play on the Busato sounds sort of like "FUCK YOU!!!!" ha ha.
...Anyway, that's my impressions so far...Bob Holo could tell you a lot more about the design of Bustos.

Hi Michael, sorry - I missed this thread. Yep, that's it on the head. You say it's across between Selmer & Favino but with more 'tude. I'd tend to agree. It has Selmer highend but is large and resonant. Everything about the Busato is big - big neck - big braces - big arch - big body - big sound. I've been up inside several of them now and have identified three distinct models with variations among them. Although I'd say it's untrue that no two Busatos are alike - it is true that there is more variation among them than other guitars. When I get my website up & running I'll post some sound & vid files of Busatos on it. Stay tuned.
I will tell you this though - it was pure heaven when Josh & Michael were jamming on the Busatos & Busato bench copy. That was a loud proud jam. Somewhere Tchavolo Schmitt was feeling that vibe and smiling in approval.
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.
