ALD Guitars

I've been able to get my hands on one of these, and it's fantastic - loud, with wonderful tone, great neck/workmanship/materials, and lots of mojo.
Anyone else try one?

I think they're great....a bit like Duponts but not as ultra bright. Sweeter in tone but still enough punch for campfire jams. Angelo Debarre used one on his latest CD and it's the best tone he's had on record.

I thought you were fond of them, Michael. I'm enjoying the new Debarre - it's a great CD, and Angelo's tone is wonderful.

Of course, Angelo's tone would probably be wonderful on a plastic Maccaferri. Whereas I could take Angelo's guitar and make it sound like crap in no time flat.

I bought a grande bouche model from djangobooks a few months ago and am very satisfied. I had the action taken down just a bit by a luthier near Santa Cruz, California, and have been experimenting with strings. Right now I'm using a set of the medium Galli silk and steels. They definitely feel looser than medium Argentines or Guadalupes. The ALD is a loud guitar with nice harmonic overtones, and I recommend one to anyone looking to buy something in the three to four grand price range. By the way, does anyone know anything about the Elixir electric guitar strings that the Rosenberg Trio are endorsing? Do they sound good even if you are not amped? You can read about this on their official website.

    Thanks

I just got an ALD petite bouche here in South Korea. It is outstanding in every respect. I highly recommend it.
