Hi-been away for a while, but I thought I would try this request here:
I will have a night off in Paris on 3/10 (playing the New Morning on 3/11; might have a night off on 3/12 too), and wonder if I stand a chance of hearing anything resembling gypsy jazz performed live? Any tips greatly appreciated! Additionally, is there any recommendation for a record shop for same?
Thanks,
musicofanatic

If you go to see Zaiti, be sure to pick a little leaflet called Lylo at the counter, it's free and has most of the cultural events for the week listed.
Here's a list of the (daily!) jams: http://www.djangostation.com/jazzmanouc ... article291
For records go to the Virgin Mega store, or look for a FNAC they both have a Jazz manouche section!!
As far as records are concerned and if you want to make a record-searching trip one hell of a guitar adventure too you may wanna drop by the wonderful shop of François Charle, you'll find some records there that are more on the underground side of the style... And meet some Favinos, Halhs, Di Mauro etc... http://www.rfcharle.com/
