What advice could you give on refining one's vibrato technique to achieve that distinct gypsy sound? I've tried things such as leaving my thumb on the neck and taking my thumb off the neck when I do it. I've also tried using the whole forearm and just rotating the wrist. However, nothing seems to make much of a difference. Is there a "methodical way" to work on one's vibrato, or does it just sort of happen over time? I'm playing a set of .10s right now, but is the vibrato easier to get with a lighter gauge? Also, is there any truth to the idea that this vibrato is easier to get on the longer scale guitars? I ask because I play a shorter scale grand bouche model.
