Any costel fans? What do you make of him?

I don't play violin, but I bought his latest album a few months ago and I loved it. Made my violin playing brother listen and he seemed unimpressed.

I've only heard him on Tchavolo Schmitt's Loutcha CD - loved it. I thought it was some of the finest jazz violin I've ever listened to.

I saw Costel play in Germany last summer and I thought he was just fantastic. Yes he sounds great on Loutcha and also Tchavolo's newest CD, Seven Gipsy Nights.

He's a top caliber player in my book. Chops aside, he's a very lyrical and expressive player to my ears. If you have a chance to see him live, do it!
