gig alert(Md.): Mitchell, Olivarez, and Cheers

Hi Folks
I cant believe I am actually getting to this almost 2
weeks before ahead of time but I am excited about this gig. I heard
these guys at Berthas in Baltimore and I am happy to say they have
agreed to come up from Charlottesville to play with me at 49 West on
Friday April 4th, in Annapolis, MD. This will be a fun night!
Rick Olivarez (Lead Guitar) and Jeff Cheers (Rhythm Guitar) play
great Gypsy Jazz but what I think is really special about them is
that they play a lot of traditional Gypsy tunes, musette, waltzes as well.

Djangophile guitar wiz Tom Mitchell is to play 3/4 of each set with them, and then cut Olivarez and Cheers loose on the trad Manouche stuff. He had a great time sitting in with them at Berthas - so a whole night promises be a blast.

They will decide on Thursday whether we will do 1 or 2 shows.
I will call the club and see how the reservations are doing

I was at this show Friday. The trio sounded wonderful. I hadn't heard of Rick Olivarez before. He was very entertaining; a fine GJ player.

Tom seemed like he was having a blast. He sounded great. I love his mix of gypsy and American swing styles.

Hopefully we'll hear them again (with bass and fiddle?!) soon.
