Hi there!

I'll go to Indianapolis from 13th to 25th of April.
Is there any good Jazz shops/pubs that you would recommend?
I don't dare to ask for Gipsy Jazz ones...

I also might go to Chicago for the week-end. Any similar advice?

Thanks a lot!

Sorry I missed seeing this. Friends in Indy tell me there are three good jazz clubs:

The Jazz Kitchen, 5377 North College Avenue, 253-4400
The Jazz Cooker, 925 East Westfield Boulevard, 253-2883
The Chatterboz Jazz Club, 435 Massachusetts Avenue, 636-0584

You have two chances to see Alphonso Ponticelli and Swing Gitan in Chicago, but not on the weekend. They are at Quenchers at Western and Fullerton Tuesday, April 22 and at my all-time favorite jazz club, the Green Mill, 4802 North Broadway, on Wednesday the 23rd. There is always good jazz at the Green Mill, and it is an unaltered relic from the days of Capone and Moran in the 1930's. Get there if you can.

Have fun, and again, sorry I missed your first post.

Tell Alphonso Michael from Philly said "hello" if you get a chance. The Green Mill is a great venue (you can take the El right to it), and Alphonso is a fine player and an exceptionally nice person.
