Loop ends also make string changes easier...especially when one unravels but doesn't break in the middle of a gig...

    best,

my Argentines (G string in particular) usually last at least 20-24 hours (about 5 gigs + practice time) of very hard agressive playing before they start getting nicks in the string. Usually my strings will show signs of being discolored/dirty long before they get nicks in them. I usually change them at the first sign of nicks in my G string because by that time the strings are dirty enough that the sound I get isn't as crisp. My strings will always "eventually" get nicks in them but sometimes my G strings will last up to 50 hours before it breaks on its own.

I use to have that fraying 3rd string problem on my Gitane a lot...they lasted only about a week.
Now on my Dupont I get around two months of daily playing time out of them...strange... I guess it has something to do with the frets and radio of the fretboard and also I'm using thinner picks now so that may also be a factor.
