How to play these kind of Chords ?

I was playing the rythm track of Douce Ambiance and came acros these chords

F7 (/C) D7 (/A).

-6--3-----
-8--5-----
-7--4-----

-8--5-----

The X are in the middle, how to play these chords, I mean , u cant just let them ring.

Ooh, another question.
Can somebody give me a page where they explain why a chord is call F7 and whats the theory.
Its hard to remember all those names. Maybey if I know something about the chords names, it is easyer. Like, F7 means something.

Your chord is "F7 slash C" The note after the slash is a bass note added to the chord, ie. you are adding a low C-note to your F7.


As to that pesky "X"-string in the middle, there are a couple ways to deal with it: Use the pad of you finger on the next string down to damp the X, pluck the correct notes only, or say "screw it," hit the open note as you play the chord and either damp the whole chord or quickly move on to another chord... maybe using a transitioning fill. There are lotsa a ways of faking it.
