I heard the hot club of marin play this song at a django benifit and I fell in love with it. I've been messing around with the melody and lead but I need a little help with the turn around of part A and all of part B. Any help in the way of a chord chart or how to approach soloing would be greatly appriciated.

(Not too many people play the A minor part at the end anymore, but if you're interested in it it's included on this chord chart:

best,

I don't recall hearing the Am ending. Can you post an mp3 or tell me who played it?
Thanks!
best,
Jack.

I see the one at http://www.visi.com/~mpv/charts/VipersDream.pdf has mis-represented the A ending as having a 2/4 bar. In fact what's going on is a truncated 11 bar phrase instead of the usual 12 in the first statement of the theme NOT a 2/4 bar.
The one cited at http://petersonmusic.com/wiki/index.php ... sdream.pdf (go to:http://petersonmusic.com/wiki/images/1/1f/Vipersdream.pdf to get directly to the pdf file) has the melody and structure of the intro and head right on, but the Django/Stephane recording has the solos over the blues in 'C' and then that great Am ending. Those are only represented in the version at http://nuagesdeswing.free.fr/jouer/imag ... _dream.gif - but with no melody notation. Notice too that Django and Stephane come back to the head after each solo — a very modern approach almost unheard of in their day.
I'm working on a version I will put on our 'secret' Hot Club of Marin site, but only all you SF Bay area folks who show up to next Monday's (August 25 '08) "Hot Club of Marin" monthly jam session in Mill Valley will get it! More info at: http://www.hotclubofmarin.com !!!
Hope to see you there!
