DINNER & SWING DANCE PARTY WITH HOT CLUB duJOUR
7pm, Firday, June 27. Concert preceded by an hour of beginning swing dance instruction with MacKnifian Zootsuitian, of Carlisle Dance Doctor Academia. Concert begins at 8pm. 'Hot Club du Jour' with special guest percussionist: The Swing Man Bang Thang (all the way from Humboldt County,CA.)
This band specializes in hot club swing music, also known as gypsy jazz. The music, played in the tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli's ensemble of the 1930's, the 'Quintet of the Hot Club of France',
represents a musical confluence. Listeners can expect to hear early jazz, including standards by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Cole Porter, in addition to the great compositions of D.Reinhardt.
