I am considering bying a new guitar(solo) from Django books. The guitars in my price range are the Saga Gitane DG-255,DELL'ARTE PIGALLE and the saga gitane DG-250m. So any tip on what guitar you would recommend will be appreciated.
Both Gitanes work fine but I am not sure the DG-250M will give you more in terms of sound (seeing that it is the most expensive of the three); I did not have a chance to try the Del'Arte but I heard good things about them.
If I can offer a piece of advice: with guitars in that price range, I would definitely recommend getting the custom bridge and setup options. This will really help you get the most of the guitars and Djangobooks has a special where you can get the whole set of setup options for 197$. If it comes down to price, get the cheapest of the three so you have enough money to get the setup: a properly setup DG-255 with a custom bridge will outplay a factory setup DG-250M for sure.
Has anyone recently purchased a DG250M (maple)? And has it been improved over past years? Has the radius profile of the neck been made more round, or is it still rather thin and flat?
I've heard very little about these guitars in recent years, though I know some very good players have had them. Any fans of these instrument?
