A riveting program of Roma (Gypsy) music with the extraordinary Romanian Gypsy band Taraf de Haidouks, which comprises three generations of musicians. This colorful ensemble from the village of Clejani near Bucharest is known for it eccentricity, remarkable fiddling, and songs in the old Romany style. Its extensive repertoire includes wedding songs, dance melodies, epic songs and ballads which reveal the soul and passion of the Gypsy people. "The group -hurtled through tunes at speeds that would make bluegrass bands blink." --The New York Times

    .....National Public Radio (NPR) has an archived two hour concert by Tafaf de Haidouks from June 2004. Worth listening too once for the earthy, rural folk style of this Romanian gipsy music. They would be entertaining in concert, however, Their music doesn't "Swing" as we generally expect of Gipsy jazz music to include "Le Pompe" rhythms.
