It can be argued that playing acoustic standing up will cut the volume because the back rests against one's body, dampening the sound. When sitting, the guitar can be held slightly away from the body. If you playing with a pickup as does Stephane, it probably doesn't matter.

I like this picture of Oscar while playing standing up. He did this to avoid feedback from the guitar.
