Can't ID the guitar, but I can tell you he's getting alot of press on French TV... My wife listens to this CD every morning on the way to work right now, I'm actually starting to sing along!

Couple of vids out there on youtube, but I can't get a line on the headstock. Probably a custom job. Not too many grande bouche gutboxes out there.

Yep. I think there are maybe, maybe two production models out there. If they can even be called production models. I can't for the life of me remember the other one. IIRC most SelMac luthiers will do one for special order, but that needs a really deep pocketbook.

Gitane is supposed to be coming out with one ... but I haven't heard anything yet.

I am aware that there are 12 fret nylon Macs.... but Dutronc's is a 14 fret nylon
Maple with an "angled" soundhole and a couple knobs presumably for volume and tone on the upper bout

Which begs the questions... was this a standard 14 fret D hole wth the bridge fitted, ergo standard ladder bracing
or a true custom with fan bracing ?

    Good eyes, Bo!

I'd bet it's custom all the way. I think I've seen older pics of him using another guitar that didn't have the knobs, so I think this one could be special.

If it is retro-fitted, I'd sure like to try out the design.

For some reason I thought it was a Dupont. I am not sure where I got this idea though. Is the headstock visible in the video of him of french tv playing tears?

    That rings a bell.

Googling ... he's listed on Dupont's artist page, so ...

This could be the Dutronc's model, or one that his is based upon ...
