Come early for dinner and journey to the Swing era with Boston's revered chanteuse as she interprets vintage songs in French and English. Adding his own spark will be jazz violinist Matt Glaser sitting in for the evening with Gypsy jazz ensemble Sinti Rhythm.

We had a full house and a great time at Sherborn Inn, where Sinti Rhythm and Mollie Malone collaborated on their first gig together for the inn. Mollie was in fine voice as she wooed and wowed the crowd with her flirtatious vocal style, which she employs to great effect, alternating between French and English. Special guest Matt Glaser played violin with uncommon finesse, and fit in perfectly with the band despite having had no time to rehearse with us. This guy is a remarkable player, and we were lucky to be graced with his presence. The interplay between his violin and Andy Moore's clarinet created sinuous patterns that took the soloing up to a new level. The tunes were so hot that New England traditional-jazz soprano sax legend Stan McDonald of Black Eagle Jazz Band fame and currently The Blue Horizon Jazz Band, got up from his table and sat in for a blistering rendition of Honeysuckle Rose that blew the crowd away. Matt Ambrose on bass dished up unwaveringly hypnotic grooves all evening, and Jack Soref and I shared la pompe and the occasional de riguere guitar solos At the end, people milled around animatedly chatting, not wanting to leave. It was an excellent night.
