I don't know this tune.
But if you want to try Erster Tango (I think it's in the Nolan Book), or Tango for Django from Lafertin's "Fine and Dandy".... it will probably satisfy your Bass player...

Interesting note: the tune's full, original title is Jalousie (Tango Tzigane), which perhaps helps explain why it sounds at home in this style. Here's a solo guitar version:

take it from an Argentinian, satisfy your bass player by playing a real tango from the Argentinian tradition. Something by Carlos Gardel or Francisco Canaro for example. The two examples given here don't sound like tangos. They lack the correct melodic and rhythmic interpretation. Do a tango correctly and people love it. do ti badly and well....yuck. tacky sounds come out of your instrument.
