Tune of the month

Anyone interested in kick starting tune of the month? It would only take a couple of us to make it worthwhile.

Great idea--I just don't have the time these days to do it myself, I'm afraid. I'd be glad to butt in with my ideas now and again, but if someone else wants to take over the grunt work of getting that first post done--which usually includes charts, audio examples, and some beginning ideas for playing the tune-- it would be a big help.

Rob Saunders might be into doing this if he has the time...Rob?

I've that other jazz forums do something similar, but instead of talking about the tunes, people simply post audio of themselves playing the tune; that might be something to think about as well.

Any ideas for tunes? I'd love to see someone take on some later Django (Impromptu, Nuits de Saint-Germain-des-Pres) or some of the great Alma Sinti tunes that you don't hear much about.

    best,
    Jack.

Great idea. It'd be fun to hear forumites' takes on the tunes, too!
  • Perhaps if we get enough people interested we could have a vote on what tune to cover.

Jack, glad to hear someone else is into late Django, a period which I think is often neglected. Nuits de Saint-Germain-des-Pres might be a good start, but it would be great to see what people would like to look at.

It would be great to have as many people as possible, but we would really only need 4 or 5 dedicated players to make it worthwhile.
