Stephane's strings?

Looking closely at the silk colors of the strings Stephane used late in his life (from the Jazz Century DVD) it appears he preferred medium Larsen's. Can anyone verify this? However, it's been my understanding that he preferred steel over gut (or synthetic). Anyone know?

I'm seriously interested about his string choice in the later years. I know he didn't use Dominants because of the silk colors, and it never sounded like steel strings. Someone told me that he wouldn't use gut because of thier slower response... however, he can be seen checking the tuning of the G and D strings just immediately before playing on several videos. The closest I have come to identifying the silk colors is Pirastro Gold. So could he have used gut?
