Maastricht, Netherlands and Amerstdam .. gypsy jazz scene?

I'm most likely going to be doing study abroad going to university of Maastricht in Netherlands.

First off I am wondering how far is this from amsterdam ans has anyone been there? I'd love to know some good spots for gypsy jazz.

well the netherlands is a very VERY small country... so for an american, it's probably not far... but still amsterdam is on one side of the country and maastricht on the other....

It is a very small country indeed, and probably the most bicycle friendly in the western world, although Maastricht - Amsterdam is pushing it...

Our country is crowded so driving from Maasstricht to Amsterdam (about 220 km) will take some time unless you drive at 3 am or maybe 2 pm. Round 9 am or 5 pm it will take 5 hours because of the trafficjams.

By train would be the best thing to do. If you are going to study in Holland you will probably get a free card for public transport.
In Nuenen you'll find the Rosenbergs, that's only 95 km. I know a player near Maastricht, his name is Paul Prevoo, he made the website for Lollo but I have no contact details.

I am in Den Haag, also far from Maastricht (well at least here in Holland we think it's far.. :oops: ) you are always welcome to come over and play!

Every Monday evening there is music in a bar called " the Tramhalte"
In Maastricht . Lollo,s piano player is there every week. Lollo sometimes.
Lollo lives in Sittard . 20 km from Maastricht .

They have a concert in Aachen.... (16 th of june) also very close to Maastricht .
