Just got the 5 CD set "Django on the radio"... I've only listened to the first CD so far and its TOTALLY @#$#%$ AWESOME---!!!!!
Recorded in 1945-46 it's Django playing a bunch of his own tunes and jazz standards with some competent US musicians (some cuts with Army big band, but most so far with just piano/bass/drums)
If this is the sort of thing you like, then I can guarantee you'll really, really like it.
There's even a solo improvisation piece by Django which was new to me.
Best thirty bucks I ever spent!
Will
Paul Cezanne: "I could paint for a thousand years without stopping and I would still feel as though I knew nothing."
Edgar Degas: "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.... To draw, you must close your eyes and sing."
Georges Braque: "In art there is only one thing that counts: the bit that can’t be explained."
