I play a wonderful Favino-style guitar built by German luthier Jürgen Volkert. He is not so well known, yet he builds terrific Selmac guitars. The most famous user is certainly Joscho Stephan.
My guitar also has solid rosewood back and sides and a very full bass register. You can listen to it here: http://www.hotclubharmonists.de/mp3/Hungaria%20Ausschnitt.mp3
I have to speak up for the Shelly Park Monmartre. I acquired one with no cosmetic extras and it is one of the sweetest and loudest things I've ever heard. Sort of like across between a selmer and a super 400 if such a thing is imaginable. I did replace the bridge in mine because the radius on the stock one seemed a bit unconventional...once that was done, a couple of intonation and string tension anomalies seemed to disappear and the guitar plays dreamy...it speaks quickly and has a sharp yet rounded sound and wide dynamic range. Word.
I've owned two Montmarte's and played Plectroman's, which is the richest sounding new guitar I've heard. Her Favino style with modern modifications create a wonderfully loud, warm and present instrument which is considerably more balanced than any classic design, but retain alot of the best Favino qualities. Her work has always been top notch, and Shelley couldn't be a nicer person to deal with.
