If by "code" you mean phrasing...I think the two finger handicap donated alot to the phrasing, that mixed with his genius mind.
I think as GJ musicians we're all using the same musically theoretical ingredients mixed with technique then we toss in a dash of our life experience, It's just the way we all bake the cake that's different. I just hope everyone continues to bake their own cake...that way it'll never get old.
Or, as an experiment, we could get some Django DNA off the #503 make a clone, put him in a gypsy caravan with a vintage Selmer and a stack of louis Armstrong, Ravel ,Debussy, and Hungarian folk lps and a pair of red socks etc.,saw off two fingers and see what happens...
I think that if such a person did appear, he'd be summarily rejected for not being authentic enough.
lol. i think thats right. it reminds me of Julian Lennon and how the media rejected him a bit because he sounded too much like his dad (John Lennon).
On the other hand, for every 1 Django conservative/purist in the current scene, there are 10 progressives trying to make it something new and different and so you'd think that a purist would be welcome.
