IT'S GONZALO! IN THE BAY AREA!

You must know about Gonzalo by now. Should be a great show and the venue is nice and intimate. Bring your axe for a late night jam afterward!

If I could be there, I truly would - just a tad too far from Oregon. But hey, I'll see if I can get the Pirate Cat working...

You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

The podcast of this radio performance is up here:

Gonzalo Bergara Quartet comes on about 30 minutes in, and again about an hour and 15 in.

They were completely amazing and inspiring in SF. The group is tight and the arrangements are fantisic. Rob Hardt is fantastic on the Clarinet and sax.

    Wait till you see them!

    Sweet!

Thanks Vic, now I have something to ease my afternoon's workload...

That clarinet player blew me away at DFNW!

    Vic,

Great stuff! Eight songs, "right there" sound, great playing. Thanks!

BTW, do you know what guitar Gonzalo is playing?

He's playing a Marin guitar that he picked up from Mathieu after a visit to France. All the Paris guys play them, and I can see why. The two I have played are among my favorite gypsy jazz guitars ever.

I should give Bob a plug here though, Mathieu sold the Marin in favor of his new Holo!

    Hi guys !!!

Thanks for the podcast, and thumbs up for inviting Gonzalo... It's pretty cool because I had just posted something about him on the French forum Manoucheries, telling my fellow Français how much they should keep ears and eyes on Gonzalo (and request him at Samois !), so now I can add a fresh evidence that it was all deserved.

Just a tiny remark to infirm what V-dub says about Marin... Pretty good guitars indeed, but not played by "All the guys" here... Doesnt Mathieu Chatelain play a wonderful Holo guitar, lately ? Yes he does, and ALD is very represented also, as well as, of course, Dupont, and... well we have a lot of Favinos and Selmers :)

The post about Gonzalo on manoucheries, with links to videos I shot during DFNW last year : http://www.manoucheries.com/phpBB2/view ... hp?t=14869

And now I'll add your podcast to it, thanks again !!
